How Do You Replace Your Kitchen Tap?
Remove The Old Faucet
- Check the instructions from your manufacturer. Each faucet and install is different.
- Make sure your faucet has the same number and alignment of holes as your sink.
- Turn off the water valves under the sink. Turn off power to garbage disposal if you have one.
- Take a picture of the plumbing as it is. Unless you are a professional you will need it later!
- Disconnect supply lines. Hold a small bucket underneath to catch water. There will be some in the hose.
- Ask someone to hold from above while you loosen and remove the nuts that hold the faucet on from below.
- Remove the faucet once loosened. Clean up all the dirt and grime that might be stuck on the sink's surface.
Install The New Faucet
- Place the gasket (can be rubber or plastic) over the faucet holes in the sink. Set the deck plate. Check your owner's manual to see if you need caulk or plumber's putty.
- Feed the faucet line into the holes.
- Install washers and nuts underneath the sink. If you needed the caulk or the plumber's putty, take this chance to clean it up underneath.
- For pull-down faucets you'll have to attach the quick connect hose to the supply pipe. Pull down the hose and attach the weight. Make sure it hangs freely.
- Connect the supply lines. Use plumber's tape if you need to. It may be a good idea to just use it from the onset. Take care not to over tighten.
- Turn the water back on slowly. Check for leaks. Adjust the connections if you need to.
- Remove the aerator from the faucet. Let the water run without it for a few minutes to clear the lines. Check again for leaks.
- Replace the aerator and your done! It's a good idea to leave the area underneath the sink empty overnight to ensure you don't have any slow leaks!

What is a 4 hole sink?
